Fin (3376), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Nov 2, 2009 Had this on tap at the brewpub, Amsterdam, 27th Oct 2009 Pours hazy conker brown with an off white head. There is a touch of dark sugar on the nose along with some spices and a trickling bitterness. There is a nice tangy fruitiness, possibly some corainder seed amongst the spiciness. Good maltiness, but not as sweet or malty as I expected. There appears to be a nice signature flavour running through these t ij beers. Another great beer in an excellent brewpub. Fantastic appearance with a hazy-murky brown body and creamy foamy tan head. Delicious. Fine aroma with caramel, fruits like apricot and plum. Full bodied with toasty caramel, sweet malt, nice fruity cgaracters and fine hop. Fine one. OleR (2007), Oslo, Norway Oct 4, 2009 0.33 L bottle from de Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Fluffy tan head. Misty, dark amber colored body. Sourish fruit aroma. A discreet scent of dry malts, and a note of lactic acids. Horsey malt flavor, more sour than sweet. Noticeable hop bitterness. Crisp in the mouth. Filling. Sourish, tart fruity ending. Funky stuff, high drinkability. Quinten (954), zaandam, Netherlands Sep 11, 2009 At vonk slijterij in zaandam, dark brown, medium fluffy head, sour, not like citrus but like a candy, some spices and yeast taste like a ful hefe, not my kind. bluevegie (2169), Perth, Australia Jan 27, 2009 Almost dark brown body with a decent head but didn’t last. A bit of citrus in the aroma but mainly the trademark funkiness. Comes through well in the taste, which is what makes this beer otherwise probably would be a little boring. martinboer (118), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jan 2, 2009 Bottle from BierKoning. Dark brown. Large head. Caramel nose. Sweet, sour and malty taste. Full-bodied. Red berries and citrus flavour, also charamel and whiff of chocolate. Had expected better given the rating and the brewer. borisz (180), Netherlands Oct 11, 2008 33CL Bottle, bougth @ the bierkoning.
Malty taste, sour. Not by beer. Spiced taste.
Not my beer. Borresteijn (1347), Amstelveen, Netherlands Oct 10, 2008 Bottle & Tap. Murky brown with a beige head. Aroma of IJ yeast, caramel and some roasted malts. Flavour is yeasty, sweet, caramel, slightly bitter finish. Medium bodied. Nice bock, solid IJ beer, as usual.
