Bottle. Pours a hazy red amber with a great creamy dirty white head. ARoma has mostly caramel, but is not that powerful. Flavour is a touch sour, spicy with a yeasty cardboardness to it. Slightly warming. Definitely not their best.

Tap at T´Ij, march 07. Slight caramel aroma and some licorice. Hazy dark bronce color with a medium lasting white head. Strong, spicy, dried/ dark rippened fruits with a salty ending. Medium, malty MF and mineral finnish. A nice, warming, dark belgian-like ale.

12oz bottle. Poured a deeper mahogany color with an averaged sized off white head. Lots of small floaters. Aromas of yeast, earthy, light caramel and had an herbal / spiciness to it. Tastes of caramel, bready, yeast, and earth.

(Bottled) Hazy dark brown with a largeish, foamy, tanned head. Sourish-malty, yeasty and quite dry aroma with some spiciness. Ginger-spicy, caramely-earthy-malty flavor with grainy ashy-licoricey hints. Medium-bodied, dryish and ashy palate with very foamy carbonation. Pleasantly dry for a Dutch beer, but too ashy and dull to be really enjoyable.

Nice one, looked impressive with a dense and slowly fading head, and the typical spicy coriander Ij-taste intertwined with more sweeter bock-ish notes. A solid, interesting offering - nothing too spectaculair but certainly worth seeking out!

Bottled (BB 10/2007). Hazy dark brown color, decent creamy off-white head, some lace. Spicey and grainy aroma. Also notes of yeast and candy sugar. Slightly sour with light flavors of chocolate, coffee and cereals. Quite typical grainy "eco-beer" feeling here. Grainy and sourish aftertaste.

Draft in Amsterdam. Unfiltered, reddish brown with a firm head. Rather sweet, with a full warming body, with some dried fruit in the aroma. A bit too sweet for me.

Bottle at The Rake, London. Deep hazy amber with a huge offwhite creamy head. Fruity nose, almost like an oud bruin. Fruity flavours, well-balanced with lactic notes. Good carbonation, warming alcohol. Far from a traditional bockbier, but still a great drinking experience.
