Bottle: Deep rusty amber with visible proteins floating around, topped by a creamy, but fading off-white head. Somewhat tart aroma for a Dubbel. Nice Belgian character, with a plummy fruityness, apple skin, orange peel notes, dark caramel malt; appetizing. Creamy mouthfeel. The flavor has a light tartness upfront. Fruity, plummy notes, candied granny smith apples, light orange peel, musty wood-like notes, subtle roastyness, caramel malt, slightly oxidized, with a zingy, slightly spicy finish; along with subtle roasted toffee notes. A unique and intersting Dubbel.

Tap a T´Ij, march 07. Pretty nice, raisiny, spicy aroma with a fruity touch. Taste is spicy, malty and a somewhat wine like finnish. Medium MF, filling and warming and a nutty ending. Appareance is chestnut copper with some rubby hues and a dense, creamy white head. Nice, easygoing amber ale.

Fynske Øldage 2005, Odense. Dark amber with a nice head. the aroma makes me think of cheese, but I also get notes of dark fruit, caramel and sweetness. the flavour is sweet, very sweet. It has notes of roasted malt, candy sugar, caramel, fruit, berries and is full-bodied. It’s not a bad one, but it doesn’t make my hands clap either...

Bottle. Hazy, orangey amber with a big yellowish head that left nice lacing. Great fruity aroma, that is vinous and spicy at the same time. Spicy flavours, fruit, even a bit of chocolate, nice bitter finish. ’t IJ does not let you down.

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. The beer is quite clear reddish brown when poured, a slight haziness may occur if the sediment is disturbed in the end, decent head. LOVELY aroma with intense fruity and vinous notes, spices are very much present too. The flavour is also fruity and spicy but not very powerful, hints of caramel. Moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness. A slightly salty finish. Light bodied, the ABV is well hidden. Easy drinking. The aftertaste is not remarkable.

(33 cl bottle at The Rover, Göteborg) Cloudy brown color, tan head. Metallic, slightly fruity but also sweet malty scent. Sweet phenolic and sugary taste. Medium mouthfeel. Sweet aftertaste. Medium bitterness.

Brilliant amber/brown. Large, dense, chunky, tan cap leaves a coat of lace. Nose of sweet malt, musty doughy yeast, fresh vegetation (not quite herbal), and light perfume. Flavor adds some caramel cookie malt, subtle funk to the yeast, dry and yeasty finish, and aftertaste of toasted cookies and sweet herbs. Medium body, soft and foamy, too much carbonation. Nice session dubbel with a t IJ twist.

Bottle. Creamy white excellent fully lasting head. Cloudy amber colour. Light malty/hoppy/yeasty aroma. Ok flavor, but overwhealming mangonotes like other ’t IJ beers. Average finish. Oily palate but way too fizzy.
