33 cl, notched "at least maintainable to" June, 2004! Nearly opaque brown-black with a large creamy head that lasts and frosts the glass well. Great nose of earthy spices, dates, musty plums, caramel, brown sugar-molasses, and slight chocolate. Flavors are similar with added notes of funk, roasted nuts, cocoa, raspberry, wood and more spices for great balance. Cured tobacco in the finish. Smooth, medium-heavy body is a little sticky but in a nice dessert-beer way, and finishes slightly dry with a little alcohol warming. Maybe everyone should rate a 6-8 year old bottle of this stuff.

Bottle: Dark brown, bit murky appearance, big off white head. Aroma of IJ yeast funkiness, brown sugar, roasted malts, spices. Taste is brown sugar sweetness, spices, some sourness. Nice creamy mouthfeel. On tap @ IJ brouwerij: A bit sweeter, and a bit more sourness in the aftertaste. Very nice dubbel.

Bottle. Plummy, brown sugar aroma with a dark yeast component. Lots of malt and some red berry. Dark brown body with a rubied edge and a tanned, creamy lacing head. Dry, slightly sour taste, again with the brown malt and dark caramel and yeast, a tad slimy with hints of toast and nuttiness, lesser chocolate and muddled fruit. Plums and raisins. Some funky worked leather. Light cherry. Angular woody herbal notes remind of a winter seasonal. Faint tea leaves and spice. Medium body with a dry, earthy finish. A very stylish, interesting brew, the acidic and wild overtones lead it in a whole new direction.

Judging by the other ratings here, seems to benefit from aging; I’d seen this bottle sitting on the shelf for a full year before buying it (and the label says it was best by Feb 06, a full 30 months ago). Have to assume now that this has brett in it - what a serendipitous buy!

Had at brewpub 6/18. Pours cloudy light brown with a tan head. Aroma of caramel, fruits, and wine. Medium carbonation. Decent beer, but a little sweet for my tastes.

Bottled (33 cl) at het Amsterdamertje, Göteborg, Sweden. Hazy amber with medium off-white head. Fruity, a bit animalic, spicy and yeasty. Meidum bodied with soft carbonation. Well balanced, would certainly gain from a bit more dryness.

33cl bottle. BB 08/08. Pours hazy amber with a lovely red hew & a small creamy & stable head. Aroma is very yeasty & dusty. Fruity berries, vinous & earhty taste - almost sour. At first I wondered if it was infected but came to the conclusion that it was the perpas.. Overcarbonated. Medium & smooth body. Ends dry! A little disappointed!

On tap at the brewery. Pours a nice caramel brown with a beige-white head. Sweet aroma, no alcohol present. Tastes nice and smooth and filling mouthfeel, low/medium carbonation. Dusty feel is right, as well as a dry finish. A good dubbel, but atypical with a strong sour flavor.
