| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2008 Bottle. Hazy copper color with a thick rocky near-white head that takes a few minutes to settle down. The aroma here is essentially just a moderate funk, but it has a light sweetness to it that keeps my nose in the glass. The taste is pretty bland, considering the aroma and the fact that it’s a t’IJ. The taste is grainy with a light funky finish. The other t’IJ brews that I’ve had come through in the taste department stronger, but this is still decent. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 31, 2002 Wow, ah, this was a really odd beer. Sort of light in color for a double. Additionally, there were some fruit notes, but they were really subtle and soft. Most of the flavors were dry, dusty, and sour. As I drank more, I found it too grow on me, but I definitely found it odd in the beginning. I just don’t think it’s for me. Borresteijn (1443), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Bottle: Dark brown, bit murky appearance, big off white head. Aroma of IJ yeast funkiness, brown sugar, roasted malts, spices. Taste is brown sugar sweetness, spices, some sourness. Nice creamy mouthfeel. On tap @ IJ brouwerij: A bit sweeter, and a bit more sourness in the aftertaste.
Very nice dubbel. SoLan (1427), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Brilliant amber/brown. Large, dense, chunky, tan cap leaves a coat of lace. Nose of sweet malt, musty doughy yeast, fresh vegetation (not quite herbal), and light perfume. Flavor adds some caramel cookie malt, subtle funk to the yeast, dry and yeasty finish, and aftertaste of toasted cookies and sweet herbs. Medium body, soft and foamy, too much carbonation. Nice session dubbel with a t IJ twist. Gr0ve (1425), Oslo, Norway
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 30, 2006 330 ml bottle. Crystal clear copper colour. Throws a tall fluffy off-white beige head. Acidic malty aroma. Brett. Peach, banana and apricots. Nutty maltiness. Distinct metallic hop flavour. Rich sourness and fruity maltiness. Clearly infected by bacteria. Doubt that it is intended as it is labelled a dubbel. Interesting, but not as intended. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Not as good as told. Should be better than Westmalle dubbel, Jens said, but I found it very highcarbonated and somewhat harsh and woody. But maybe it was a bad bottle.
