Cloudy, deep amber appearance with an average size beige head and nice lacing. Yeasty, sweet malt aroma with notes of molassas, toffee and ripe fruit. Moderately sweet, malty taste; dark fruit and a light nuttiness were evident. Medium-bodied, modestly carbonated mouthfeel. Lingering, slightly metallic finish.

33cL bottle, chalice. Deep murky brown hue with red highlights. Giant, creamy/frothy, off-white head doesn’t last as long as I had hoped. Huge chocolate and candi sugar malt presence. Slightly nutty. Nice floral hop profile. Sweet dough yeast aroma. Plums, raisins, somewhat vinous, maderia. Pleasant and rounded aroma...the chocolate is to die for. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly sweet flavor becomes a lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter finish. Somewhat sour finish. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: Great aroma, nice looking...an odd sourness in the finish (think grapefruit) and a too-slick palate that results in the taste washing away quickly are what hold this beer back. Like most of the ’t IJ beers I’ve had, I would recommend being very cautious with the yeast near the end of the pour. It’s a potent strain!

330ml Bottle - Hazy brown with a foamy beige head. Fruity aroma with spicy malt and hints of marzipan and more spicy elements. Fruity and slightly sweet taste with dried fruit, spices and more hints of marzipan. Very drinkable and I enjoyed this one.

Beer pours a medium, murky red-gold color with an average-sized, frothy, off-white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is a pisser—either the complimentary or the derogatory definitions will work. It’s malty with moderate notes of toasted grain; heavily hoppy with a pungent note of pine/resin, herbs and straw (perhaps it was dry hopped?); heavily yeasty with strong notes of band-aid, horseblanket and barnyard, and moderate notes of cellar; moderate miscellaneous notes of urine, dill-like herbal florals, and a trace note of chewable Vitamin C tablets. The flavor is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderatly bitter with a short, lightly sweet, lightly acidic finish with bready retros. The body is light-to-medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is soft-to-average. I don’t love it, nor do I hate it, but one thing is for sure, I doubt I’ll ever have something else like it.

Bottle. Red-brown with a solid beige head and nice lace. Dark fruits, berries, yeast, dry, little dusty, medium-full, soft mouthfeel. Good! Thanks Jbrus.

large pour out of a bottle this time at the windmill brewery. one of the darker ones i had at the brewery. sweet choc malt flavors with dark fruit and mollasses brown sugar spice piched in there somewhere.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Great Amsterdam-Dubbel dark brown coloured with some fruity- raisin taste and well bitter ending.
