| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 19, 2002 Murky dark copper with suspended yeast and chunks on the bottom. Thinnish light tan head. Light but steady carbonation. Aroma of oranges, caramel rice cakes and what appears to smell like an empty fish tank (moldy fish smell). Initial impression - A dark Saison. Wacky burnt steak flavor, some tartness and savory herbiness. Yeast pour is dark (just sits on the top). Fairly mellow, lightly bubbly. Thick maltiness emerges as does a roasted aroma. Farmy and yeasty though. Sourish lip smacking sweetness. Finishes chalky and hoppy, with an edge of sweetness. Strange. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA

Spicy, orange, yeasty, malt flavor. Yeast, orange, and spice linger. Medium body. Fairly dry, bready finish. This is a beer that’s just calling out for some Brett. A hint of sourness coming up. Remarkably refreshing. Malty and a firm body. Unususal, but nice beer. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 26, 2005 Bottle: Lovely ruby dark amber colour, with a lasting beige head. Fruity aroma, with some plum and citrus notes. Spice there too. Flavour starts a little sweet, but remains quite dry all the way through. Mildly spicy notes evident, along with some caramel and dark fruit notes. Alcohol well disguised. Not bad. JK (2961), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

They nailed the style on this one, but I usually expect IJ to do something a little different. This is an ordinary dubbel of high quality.
