| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Pours a fogged brown. Nose is just like pineapple juice right out of the can. Slight funky cherry wood there as well. Reminds me of a flanders…hmmm…and maybe that is what this is. I am writing this before checking the style. Flavor is that woody cherry character. The wood stays very prominent and leaves a lasting impression on the palate. Feel has a lot of carbonation, but not overly done. Liquid is well bodied. Very drinkable, but again with this brewery: worth the price? Seems a bit high to me. Could be just where I bought it though. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2005 Bottle. Ivory large sized head that was mostly lasting, fine-small sized bubbles, good amount of lacing, carbonated, cloudy, and a reddish brown hue. Nose was malty, caramel and sweet and mimicked in the flavor. Very tasty and quaffable. Smooth palate. Medium body. Truly enjoyed this brew and definitely would like to have this one again. Try it if you have the chance. SSSteve (2066), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Sweet fruity aroma, plums and dark cherries, sweet chewy toasted malts, yeast shows subdued clove and some sweet apple and grapey vineousness as well. Flavour is sweet and plummy but also lighted textured than many other dubbels. This makes it creamy and sweet, but also somewhat refreshing. Creamy texture, light mint herbal character. Some clove and light apple through the finish along with a lingering breadiness. Nice beer. aracauna (2384), Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 2, 2005 Deep, fairly clear ruby-mahagony catches the light nicely, and the cream-colored foam that sits atop the beer lasts nicely. The aroma is full of overripe fruits and more fruit that was caramelized (kind of like a brown sugar and fruit sauce). There’s a bit of a floral (roses and honeysuckle) nature underneath the heavy fruits. The flavor is less exciting than the aroma, but still comes up with a nice supporting caramel flavor to back up what the nose picked up. A lingering bit of bananas foster in the finish leaves you with a pleasant memory of the beer. Brandon (wunderbier) warned me to leave the yeast in the bottle as it’s a very potent strain, and I have to agree with him, without the yeast, this is a very underrated beer from an underrated brewery. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 19, 2008 Bottle. Plummy, brown sugar aroma with a dark yeast component. Lots of malt and some red berry. Dark brown body with a rubied edge and a tanned, creamy lacing head. Dry, slightly sour taste, again with the brown malt and dark caramel and yeast, a tad slimy with hints of toast and nuttiness, lesser chocolate and muddled fruit. Plums and raisins. Some funky worked leather. Light cherry. Angular woody herbal notes remind of a winter seasonal. Faint tea leaves and spice. Medium body with a dry, earthy finish. A very stylish, interesting brew, the acidic and wild overtones lead it in a whole new direction.
Judging by the other ratings here, seems to benefit from aging; I’d seen this bottle sitting on the shelf for a full year before buying it (and the label says it was best by Feb 06, a full 30 months ago). Have to assume now that this has brett in it - what a serendipitous buy! greig (171), Hamilton, New Zealand
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 15, 2009 One of the nicest looking beers I’ve had in a long time, though I had to pour very carefully to avoid the big chunks of yeast in the bottle. Luminous reddish amber with a fluffy beige head sitting in a glass goblet. Luckily the rest of the beer backs up the appearance. Spicy, fresh nose, with all sorts of aromas fleeting in and out of perception. A deep draught brings frsh brown bread, caramel, figs, coriander, and brown sugar. The finish is a touch sweet and some more carbonation would be nice, but I’m totally nitpicking. thornecb (1771), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
