hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 17, 2007 Bottle... Saint Patrick’s Day 2007... Murky amber ale with a large, rocky, off-white head. Everlasting, creamy retention. Earthy, sweet nose provides notes of rawhide, brown sugar and wine with a whisper of acidity. The flavor has excellent balance. Sweet, but not cloying. Bitter, but not harsh. Acidic, but not tart. Medium to full-bodied with crisp (but not prickly) carbonation. Crisp, lightly bitter finish. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Mar 16, 2007 Bottle at home. Sweet aroma and flavour, marshmallow like. Citrusy, grassy and sweet. Hoppy. Marsapin finish. Warms at the end. Nice. Alchol is well-hidden. joebrew (608), Farewell Minny; Hello Puyallup, Washington, USA Feb 23, 2007 Pours a hazy burnt brown. Nice ripe fruit nose with brown sugar, nuts, toffee. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 15, 2007 Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours bronze with an off-white head. Aroma of citrus, fruit, and yeast. The flavor is sweet, fruit, and citrus. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Feb 5, 2007 (Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 2 Feb 2006) Dark ruby colour with frothy off-white head, some lacing. Fruity nose with notes of dark fruit and black-currant. Malty, fruity taste with dark fruit, black-currant, dried figs, raisins and chocolate with a spicy, chocolatey, slightly bitter finish. Drier than expected. Very nice! pivnizub (4949), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Jan 21, 2007 Bottle (Edo, Danke !): Chestnut-amber coloured, a bit hazy with visible sediments, creamy, egg-shell coloured stable foam; strong fruity nose (dried fruit) with caramel and (port-)wine; medium bodied, robust sweet flavour; warming, caramelly fruity finish with a little tartness and a little bitterness. A pleasant, warming ale........... ante (2904), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 20, 2007 Bottled. Hazy dark brown colour, topped with a fluffy tan-coloured head. Yeasty and biscuity aroma with notes of black cherries, black currant, alcohol and caramel with a light sourish undertone. Quite dry flavour of yeast, cherry-skins, dried figs and oily hops. Long finish of orange-peels, yeast and cherry pastilles. A very interesting ale. cchubb (73), Minneola, Florida, USA Jan 15, 2007 A strong Belgian style ale made in Holland sounds funky, but they pull it off quite well. Strong coppery color and big fluffy head bring a strong sour aroma and a slight alcoholic odor to the nose. The flavor is a little too malty for me, which gives it a barleywine aspect. 9% alcohol is not at all evident in the taste though, just the nose.
