Everything seemed to be off with this beer. I was really expecting much more. Aroma was vegetative. Appearance wasn’t bad. Flavor was malty sweet. I have another bottle of this, so I will have to re-rate. I think the bottle was bad. Bart (1654), Brussels, Belgium

But this is something else! Red-brown clear appearance. Very full-bodied with long-lasting flavors. Excellent long bittersweet finish. I agree with jbrus about this one: this is underrated brew. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Bottle. Dark copper-brown color, super-thick rocky light tan head that almost goes over the glass. Slight funk on the aroma, along with grain, grapeskins and pepper. Taste has a pleasant funkiness balanced by some mild sweetness. Real grainy throughout and the alcohol never really is apparent. Reminded me a bit of La Roja. DSG (1514), Tel Aviv, Israel

Hazy red with a big, slowly-diminishing, off-white head. Aroma of some malt, wood and fruits – quite nice. Sweetish flavor with some malt, a bit of caramel, some oaky sour notes and some nice fruitiness. Medium-bodied. Very pleasant. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England

Lots of raspberry and caramel malt. Sweet but not special. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Apr 11, 2004 Orange red with a tanish head. Aroma of either blackberries or some other wild berry with a yeasty hint of maple syrup. Big and malty, with some malty berry notes of maple syrup again. Smooth, full palate. Still not as good as I prefer, but better than the other offerings from this brewery that I had in the lineup.
