bottle from lowlander. Pretty deep red-amber with a swollen off white head that faded to a good half inch of dense cream head, leaving a perfect lace. Strong nose of vanilla, oak, walnut, tangerine and some caramel. Taste is a let down after such a fantastic aroma - light spice, nuts, apple, fig and dates. Slightly metallic finish. Creamy, full body. Too watery in the taste, but otherwise a top bew.

Bottle pours a hazy burnt cherry red with a two inch head that laces fair. The aroma is malty, yeasty, bordering on ripe cheese, and slightly roasty. The flavor is drier than others in the style, but still malty, some dried fruit characteristics, coriander, a slight lingering hop bitterness, and somewhat of a yeasty show. The alcohol is well hidden. The palate is fairly rich and quite cleansing. Overall, this is a keeper...

A characterful beer with an interesting tartness to it. Bottle at the Wildeman. Pours cloudy amber-brown with beige, lacy head. Nose is fruity and tart with an odd chemical edge like Sweet Tarts candy. Taste is both sweet and tart, fruity, with a moderately bitter kick that goes bone dry like a big saison. Funky.

Bottle, De Wildeman, Amsterdam. Murky, ruddy brown colour, with a big off white head. Yeasty, sweetish burnt brown sugar aroma with dark fruit and spice. Flavour had similar elements with a malty, slightly boozy spine. Solid enough, but was hoping for a bit more.

I really liked this one. Fruity, creamy, a little bit of dryness, some sour taste as well.

16 June 2005 (Maastricht-Fallstaff) - Sweet malt aroma, but lacks some hops. Suds lacing, dark brown cloudy colour with good head. Vinuos celery hop and dark malt flavours.
