Red brown colour with a big baige head. Weak yeasty malty fruity aroma and a sweet caramel yeasty taste. Medium body and a sweet finish.

More than 2 yrs. old. Beer gushes out of the bottle. Aroma has rosebuds and milk chocolate. Some apple sourness in the flavor, slightly acidic. Chocolate, cherry, cranberry and licorice. Some alcohol. Maybe a bit thin. All 'n all a fine beer.

A Mes rate: Bottle from god knows where. Salty malty nose. Lovely amber colour with a very well behaved off white head. Tangy malty flavour. Fairly one dimensional but decent enough. Slightly milky. Alcohol is hidden well apart from a slight spirit like burn at the back of the throat in the finish. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours a dark, slightly muddy amber. Head is yellowish white, a tad foamy and quite big. Stunning aroma! Lots of red apples, some caramel, vanilla and candy sugar. Oily mouthfeel. Very nice flavours - lots of spices. Vanilla again, ginger, pepper, oak, caramel and much more. Quite vinious as well. Well-rounded, powerful and great. Still sweet in general.

Bottle. Poured a medium and hazy/cloudy amberish color with a huge sized off white head. Aromas of yeast, bananas, spices, pears, brown sugar and all around fruity. Tastes of caramel, candi sugar, and fruity. Medium sweet with the alcohol content well hidden.

Bottle at Spuyten Duyvil. Deep brownish burgundy. Lasting off-white head. Hugely phenolic aroma, extremely sweet. Big toffee and buttery malt aroma, cream hints. Banana-like yeast in the nose, leathery like on the tongue. It somewhat dries out in the finish, but it’s just not enough, this is indeed a dessert brew, but this banana split/chocolate milk, berry pudding sweetness going on is a little too filling for me. Body is huge, very creamy, round. I’d love it under other circumstances, but here it makes the beer too heavy. My least favorite of the columbus, zatte and struis. Unbalanced.

(Bottle) Pours a cludy brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of brown sugar, raisins, caramel, roasted malt, and grapes. Flavor of toasted malt, scotch, and chocolate. Dry, alcohol finish.

Bottle best by 4/04: Hazy dark copper color with a dense and well-lacing head. Aroma is musty and bready with a touch of yeast and tartness. Body starts light and syrupy sweet with some cookie dough maltiness and a semi-dry warming finish. Decent complexity and hides its alcohol well, but could use a little more body and balance. Very drinkable though.
