Bottled - St Albans Beer Festival. A muddy brown coloured beer with a sour blackberry aroma. The taste is fruity but a bit tired and stale. Not bad but T ij is better than this.

Bottle from Super Saver. Hazy deep coppery/rubyish pour with 1-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, figgy fruit, some vinous fruit, brown sugar, slight cherries. The taste was caramel malty, with a slightly funky oaky fruity vinous mid-palate, and some finishing brown sugar and spicy hints. Very complex and well balanced.

Hazy brown ale with a thick off white head, lacing. A sweet caramel aroma with light brett notes. In mouth, a wild beer with dry crisp malt, light licorice, brett, earthy. Rich and comlex. A very surprising beer. Bottle at Gollem, Nov. 2006, 3.50 Euro.

Head is initially large, frothy, light brown, fully lasting. Body is hazy medium brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, caramel, nuts, milk chocolate), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with light notes of coriander, licorice, orange peel, toffee. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Well-balanced if just a bit too sweet and just a little watery (keeping it from a 5 on mouthfeel). Lovely.

33 cl bottle. Plummy thick molasses, enormous fluffy head with thick gouts of lacing. Big yeasty nose, plum pudding and chocolaty caramel, and fine honey...breathtaking. On the tongue, very sweet at first but with a fairly big peppery alcohol bite that keeps the finish fairly dry and long, long-lasting. Baked fruits, hints of coffee and bitter chocolate, and banana intertwine with the dominant plummy/molasses character to form a beautifully intense, well-balanced fancy. Perhaps just a touch too bitter to finish, but an excellent example all in all.
