Rich full mouthfeel with light sour sweet finish. Alcohol is present mingling with malt, carmel chocolate, spice and other flavors. Very rich annd actually quite balanced for a 9% beer. I agree with Syd, definatly a keeper! KnutAlbert (3216), Oslo, Norway

Full, I’d say agressive taste, with a sourness kicking you in the teeth before the full malty taste is allowed in the door. This is certanly not for casual drinker, a beer with hair on its chest. Full malt, including some prunes and dates, lots of spice - cinnamon and pepper. I bought three t Ij bottles, the first two were off, but this one was great! Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 30, 2006 Pours opaque, dense mahogany...pretty. Heavy, primal aromas of maple, oak, toffee and earth. Dried cherries and peaches swimming in caramel and scotch, with an understated sour finish, when its rich and syrupy mouthfeel becomes immediately dry and bitter. A wild, ancient animal of a beer. Medium slick mouth feel with an oily finish .Flavors on this beer is incredibly complex as well, dark fruits, spices and some funk? Truly a unique beer enough so I have to try another one to nail the description down

The finish is also quite good - full mouthfeel and nicely balanced bitterness. Many spicy fruits in the flavor as well, and the alcohol is well masked. The flavor is just a tad too thin for my taste, but overall this is a very good beer. maupie (620), Roosendaal, Netherlands

But still, this is a very good beer and underrated here. Maybe just a bit on the sweet side and I think it has lost it’s milky sourness over the years. Bottle@Home, Feb 02, 4.7: Dutch pride and underated at this site in my opinion! Light acid, light perfume, light spices and date aroma. Clear, red-brown, creamy light brown head, good lacing, sticky. Sweet, hopbitter, very full, prune flavours. Long bittersweet finish and a lasting alcohol burn.
