Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Nov 2, 2009 Bottled as ljendejaars that I picked up from Bierkoning consumed at Landsmeer campsite, Amsterdam 29-10-09 This exploded out of the bottle, a real gusher thankfully Loz had the common sense to open this outside rather than in the camper otherwise there would’ve been a right mess everywhere. Colour was a very murky amber with a light beige head. Fruity and yeasty aroma, very spicy in the mouth but again fruity. There is a lot of sediment and to be fair this was probably not served at its best though still likeable. A6 A3 F7 P4 Ov13 3.3 JanEric (167), Meppel, Netherlands Aug 29, 2009 Bottle (Ijndejaars). Big foaming from the bottle. Also a foaming head, amber (dark))coloured, with yeast grains in the glass. Aroma is full of caramel and candy, sweet. Taste is smooth, slightly bitter, with caramel, roasted malt. Less than average carbondioxide. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jun 14, 2009 2006 bottle. A reddish amber bock with a thick dark off white head. A very pleasant aroma of candy sugar, orange peels, varnish, and light fruity esters. In mouth, veering on Belgian Tripel, with candy sugar, orange and rose water, nice light hopping, smooth and classy. Bottle from Hunsell, Nov. 2006. Danku Jorit! Golden with white head. Aroma of yeast and malt. Flavor is caramel with ripe fruit notes. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 25, 2009 Bottle… Pre-C&P’sLYFO Throwdown… Murky golden lager with a small, creamy, white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma offers caramel and nuts and is a touch acidic. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and very fizzy carbonation. Sweet caramel, nut and toffee flavors dominate. Decently bittered, but not enough to balance the malts – still, not cloyingly sweet. Finishes lightly sweet, but then bone-dry. Bottle provided by bu11zeye! GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 19, 2009 Pours a cloudy golden color. Aromas are earthy, with funk, dust, dirt and a strong malt character. Flavor is funky and bready. Very good. Thanks to Hopscotch for this! Beerlando (2283), Orlando, Florida, USA Mar 13, 2009 Bottle, courtesy hopscotch. The pours yields a cloudy, glowing, golden-yellow body with a small, foamy, off-white head. Minimal spotting dots the glass. Like the other t’ IJ beers I’ve had, this one sports a very Jolly Pumpkin-esque funk. There’s an etheral character to the nose, very yeasty and floral perfumy, with an underlying creamy malt base. Notes of sourdough bread and funked oak are there as well. Flavors are very similar, soft, creamy, almost imperial pils-like malts showing very bready and sweet, with a decent amount of floral hop character and funky, old oak. Medium-full and creamy on the palate, with balanced carbonation. Drinks easier than the 9% ABV would suggest. Damn nice beer. Very funky. I swear that the brewer must somehow be related to Ron Jeffries, because they think alike. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA Jan 30, 2009 2006 Bottle. Pours a rich clear amber with an enormous white head. Odd tart aroma (maybe it’s infected?) Definite aroma of pears. Also a hint of trees and caramel in the nose. Strong malt front with a punch of caramel notes. The tartness is still there but very subtle. Some light fruit presence such as apples.
