Commercial Description:
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

From bottle acquired at Toronado in San Francisco over a year ago. Aged at 45F. Like all other ’t IJ brews I expected very strong yeast flavors, and very funky esters that have all the hints of high temperature fermentation.. There were definitely those flavors there, but far more subdued in this brew than any other that I’ve tasted from this brewery. Lots of malt flavors dominate the palate, but definitely not a sweet brew. Nice Moderately dry finish with a very delicious Belgian style interplay between the malt malliards and yeast esters. Very enjoyable... Not sure I’d call it quite a tripel though.. I’d expect a slightly lighter color and a slightly drier beer.

Pours to a hazed over caramel colored body with a tall foamy white head. Awesome lacing. The flavor is extremely yeasty with tart wheat. Tripel like. Crisp grains, bananas, yeast, golden raisins, and dry grassy hops. The aroma is dry and mineral laden. Sort of like Abbaye de Rocs. Yeasts and bananas meets golden raisins. The palate is full of minerals and is extremely carbonated. Effervescent. Nice texture and drying.

Golden color, small white foam. A lot of earthy and basement aromas from the yeast, and herbs ? from the hops. Sweet. A rather good tripel.

bottled. Amber with a massive creamy head typical of al ’t lj brews. Very fine sediment. Aroma of grapefruit and peach. Taste to match with strong alcohol, some spice. Something artificial in the finish - like chemicals. Sweet finish. Good.

A bio-tripel (!), 8%, 33cl bottle. Very cloudy, hazy beer, with a good fizz, small head and lots of yeast drifting around. Golden, light honey colour. Smells quite alcoholic with hints of mandarin, cherries... even some coffee there? Well balanced bitter-sweet flavour, yeasty, bitter palate with hints of orange peels. It kinda alternates between a tripel and a fruit beer....

The aroma has sugar, yeast, malt, incense, and spices. The appearance is deep hazy gold with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma with the complexities of the yeast bringing everything from fruit to cheese to spice. The palate is thin but smooth. This is one of those really complex almost off tasting beers but maybe mine was damaged by age as it seems to have a date of 05.

Poured a small IPA-like head. Nice lacing. Spicy and fruity orange nose and tawny orange body. This was like a fruit cocktail or a tropical pop sickle. Incredible desert-worthy beer. Eggselent!

Bottle. Hazy, orangey amber with a small head and a bit of sediment. Fruity aroma, hinting of oranges. Flavours have the typical ’t IJ trademarks; fruity and spicy with strong hints of orange zest. Good carbonation and body. Nice.
