Commercial Description:
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Bottle: Poured a murky orange with a medium creamy white head. Aroma is a fruit and spice. Taste is a tangy fruit more toward a saison flavor than a triple on my pallet. Finish is acidic.

Gold pour with a bit of sediment floating in it and a short lived fizzy white head. Sweet and dry aroma with a subtle hint of fresh fruit and slight funk. Very delicate, dry and sweet flavor with some lemon, grass and green apple. There’s just a faint hint of barnyard and little bit of pepperiness. Medium thin body with tingly carbonation. A very delicate an drinkable version of a triple.

Hazy golden colour, small white head. Sweet and smooth tripel, with grassy hops, light malty and some fruits.

Bottle. Amber beer with a huge off-white head. Yeasty, spicy, lemony aroma. Yeasty, lemony, light spice flavor with backing malt. Medium body. Lingering yeast, spice, banana, lemon, and malt.

Bottle, as old as the Natte I recently had. Alcohol and slightly skunky grass nose, spices or rubbing alcohol here are making my eyes burn a bit just from scent. Just way too boozy. Hazy golden pour with a creamy, delicious -looking creamy white head. Sharp taste with pale malts, yeast, orange peel, clove, and other herbal spices. Dryish spicy end. Lightish oily body. Acidic. I think on another day, with a fresher sample, I’d like this one, but as is, it’s hard to give any love.

Bottle: Cloudy golden, thick white head. Aroma is funky, a bit spicy poo-ish, typical to IJ yeast, some sweetness, fruity aroma’s. Taste is fruity, a little sour, really smooth. On tap @ IJ brouwerij: Looks somewhat darker, small white head. Smells a bit less poo-ish. Taste is more sour and sweeter, more out of balance. Nevertheless, a good tripel.

Had at Brewpub 6/18. Decent tripel. Very grassy on the nose. A little too grassy in the taste. Taste of hay, grass, and more hay. Had medium carbonation, and a little bit of funk. Not a terrible beer, but not a great beer.

33cl bottle. Very dusty and dry on the nose with the basement notes developing into some richer, sweeter banana estery aromas. Slightly grassy and musty as well with a touch of cheddar cheese. Subtle and surprisingly complex. Pours a bright gold/copper with a nice sized creamy white head. Plenty of dustiness on the tongue. A mild yeast spice and earthiness. Bread dough and cheese. An interesting and reserved fruitiness comes out of the yeast pour. Very light bretty notes as well toward the bottom of the glass. Creamy on the tongue with lively, but not overpowering carbonation. 8% is deftly hidden. Far from my favorite style, but well crafted nonetheless. Thanks Alan!
