Commercial Description:
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Small white head. Orange body. Acidic, lambic-like barnyard aroma. Acidic, spicy, fruity bitter chalky tobacco taste. Clear traces of brett. :-/ This is infected, just as the Natte I had last night. Yeasty taste. Probably a lot better when not infected. Should re-rate. (0.33l bottle, thanks to Knut Albert.)

Many aromas and they are all good. Nutmeg, yeast, wheat, pears, and apples. Cloudy orange with a huge Duvel-like head. Flavor is complex like the aroma. Citrus, wheat, more pears, and nutmeg. Light spices I can’t identify. Delicate. Smooth but not very full body. Think Tripel Karmeliet but slightly lighter.

Draught at Monks Café, Stockholm. Hazy golden appearance with a low sticky white head. Sweet aroma of pine-apples, almond paste, cinnamon and yeast. Flavourvise, it starts quite sweet of pine-apples, red apples and white bread but is nicely balanced of of dryish grassy hops. Long aftertaste of grassy hops, yeast and sweet apricot.

Pours a hazy orangey blonde color with a thin white head. Classic tripel aroma and flavor of belgian yeast and citrus. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation. This tripel doesn’t have anything new or original to offer, it’s just well-made and enjoyable and I don’t mind at all.

Of the t IJ lineup, this has the lightest color and the whitest head, but the flavor is a tad thin - like a singel (try Witkap Pater instead). Not much aroma. Overrated.

Bottle. Hazy, orangey amber with a small head and a bit of sediment. Fruity aroma, hinting of oranges. Flavours have the typical ’t IJ trademarks; fruity and spicy with strong hints of orange zest. Good carbonation and body. Nice.
