Commercial Description:
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Bottle. Hazy, orangey amber with a small head and a bit of sediment. Fruity aroma, hinting of oranges. Flavours have the typical ’t IJ trademarks; fruity and spicy with strong hints of orange zest. Good carbonation and body. Nice.

Bottle, dated 2002. Pours a hazy orange amber with a volcanic white head that slowly settles into a thin creamy pad. Aromas of apples, cloudberries, and barnyard must. Sweet lively palate of apples, pears, chamomille, hay, and barnyard mustiness. A slightly medicinal finish. Very complex and surprisingly refreshing. I enjoyed this enormously.

A bigger t’Ij beer than many of the others. Has a winter-warming quality. Malty and a tad on the sweet side. Good balance of flavors though. Creamy and soft.

Another interesting trippel that I picked up during my travels. Slightly sweet, but not over the top or cloying. Cookie dough maltiness with some orage jamminess, thick sticky mouthfeel. Finishes dry, but has a wonderful lingering finish, like a dry sauvingon blanc.

The aroma has sugar, yeast, malt, incense, and spices. The appearance is deep hazy gold with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma with the complexities of the yeast bringing everything from fruit to cheese to spice. The palate is thin but smooth. This is one of those really complex almost off tasting beers but maybe mine was damaged by age as it seems to have a date of 05.

Cloudy golden appearance with a small but foamy head - smells of oranges and apples mostly, with a hint of must - something about this tastes like canned peaches - some bitterness and an attempt at a fruity complexity that it doesn't quite completey achieve, leaving a soft, somewhat thin finish - a tasty, valiant effort, but falls short.

33 cl bottle. Yeast in bottom. Golden to amber colour with a big white head. Nice aroma of sweet orange and notes of yeast. Nice flavour of complexity, with a malty and warm finish.

(Draught at Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 2 Feb 2007) Orange colour with huge, but brief, white head, leaving some lacing. Fruity nose with distinct citrussy notes of orange, Seville orange and citrus peel. Fruity, spicy taste with apricots, orange, Seville orange and a fresh, spicy finish. This was quite a nice and tasty beer, actually.
