The aroma is very hoppy, as is the flavor. The taste is initially sweet and fruity with a more bitter finish. Overall, a very respectable tripel-style ale. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 14, 2002 Updated: Sep 16, 2004APPEARANCE: Darker and more amber with smaller, yet thicker head. Head lasts longer than Westmalle. AROMA:Biscuit and pear are present with hints of dry grass FLAVOR/BODY:
Soft and fluffy with hints of mandarine orange and bosc pear. Also some very sweet honeylike flavors. Spiciness is faint. Finish is dry, but not acidic or alcoholic, rather grassy. As it warms, thick noodle flavors come out, I’m guessing from the yeast. Less complex after only 10 minutes, but overall more tasty and complex than westmalle. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2007 Pours a bubbly light golden color with a big, foamy off white head. Spicy citrus notes are evident, sweet malts, and candy sugar also show up in the nose. The taste is a little sour, a little funky, with tons of spice flavors. The candy sugar sweetness is apparent, but moreso in the background as the spices tend to mask it somewhat. The finish is crisp and sweet. Funky aftertaste leaves you interested. Solid little brew. Big bubble gum flavors with hints of papaya, pear, apples, hops and yeast. I really like Ij and their beers. Beer2000 (1823), Kristiansand, Norway
