Commercial Description:
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

16 June 2005 (Maastricht-Fallstaff) - Light sweet and complex aroma. Cloudy orange colour, flatish head with goo sheet lacing. Hop malt and vinuos celery flavours. Light medium mouthfeel.

27/10/2009. 330ml bottle from Beerstore. Hazy pale gold. Throws a little jellied citrus fruit on the nose with an underlying herbal alcohol character. Sulphur sneaks a peek. Head fades but laces well. Simple in the mouth, similar to what I expected given the nose but sulphur on the palate detracts even more so than it did on the nose. Agh... if I wasn’t doing my GST return I’m not sure I would have kept drinking this. Somehow the acrid sulphurous yeast character balanced the bitterness of parting with cash that I should have never have received in the first place. Thumbs down.

Draught at brewpub. Nose is yeast, citrus (lemon), and mild spice. Very cloudy, nearly opaque pale orange. Unimpressive color with an impressive foamy head. Nice lacing. Clean citrus flavor, opens sour and finishes sweet. Full bodied and satisfying mouthfeel.

Now this is a different Triple. Fruity malty and yeasty. Lots of lingering yeast in glass. Finishes very dry.

33 cL. Bottle. It pours a medium pale color with a white head and slick lacing. The nose has fresh fruit and malt aromas. The flavor is spicy, and full of malt but also with a tart acidy finish. It has a nice dry and crisp mouthfeel. Very well done beer.

Bottle. Gusher. Smells like fermented shoe with exotic spice. Looks like a wonderful golden orange cloudy abbey Tripel with a beautiful, lasting layer of eggshell head, and an attractive, tight layer of lacing. This does not taste right or anything like what the other raters are noting. Methinks, sadly, this is an infected bottle. I’ll try it again when I’m in Amsterdam in May. Rating given is per RB average. Bottle purchased from Oliver’s.

My notes say "spicy cinnamon hoppy". I’ll have to take them at face value, since I don’t remember this.

Poured a cloudy golden color with minimal to no head. It has an odd tarty, messed-up apple aroma that is somewhat pungent. Sharp mouthfeel with a very quick burst of orange-y, appley flavor that completely goes away very quickly. Zero aftertaste. Didn’t enjoy it.
