Commercial Description:
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Bottle at ‘t Arendsnest. Hazy dirty gold color with a small white head. Smells like a tripel with a touch of citrus. Very smooth. Very creamy. Very good mouthfeel. Flavor is lightly bitter, with a citrus peel hint, over pale malt. Finishes clean and bitter. Nice ongoing flavor of fruity and/or herbal hop.

Deep gold body with a lightly off white head. The massive aroma was sweet with ginger and leather. There was also some nice caramel. The taste was sweet caramel apples with some strogn ginger and cinnamon coming through in the finish. Solid.

Sweet marzipan malt and yeast with spicy, flowery hops in the aroma. Hazy, golden yellow with initially strong white head that recedes to cover. Malt dominated, sweet flavour has plenty of tropical fruits and a light tartness toward the finish. Very tasty. Smooth and creamy in the mouth. Bottle enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere at Spuyten Duyvil (Brooklyn, New York).

Cloudy coppery hue with some floaties that produced a large frothy head and very nice lacing. The aroma has a sour fruit, dusty yeast, biscuit malts, vanilla and cinnamon. The taste starts yeasty with a sweet and flowery background. Displays a touch of acidic and mildly bitter undertones. Woody and slightly spices towards the finish. Alcohol is well hidden. The mouthfeel is lively and crisp, a bit watery however. It’s an okay beer, but nothing to go out of your way to buy.

ChrisFest Pale and perfumed. Fairly dry. An attractive chalky ale - though lacking in range and depth.

Bottle. High white creamy and long lasting head. Hazy orange body. Spicy (coriander?) sweet and hoppy aroma. Pleasantly carbonated smooth and round, in spite of the high alcohol percentage, oranges and well a bit of alcohol. flavor. Fair amount of carbonattion and a long bitter aftertaste.

Sampled from 12-oz bottle at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a hazy brownish amber brew witha thin off-white head that quickly dissolves to a fine film and just barely any lacing. Aroma of sour malt, yeast, some coriander and earthy herbs. Taste is medium bodied, well carbonated with a dry sour character. Flavors include, sour oranges, yeast, some caramel malt and alcohol. Finish has a slight alcohol warmth and a spiced yeast aftertaste.

The initial taste was a nice sweetness and modest carbonation, but taste was lesser so and dry aftertaste. Foam white head on cloudy yellow-brown . Nice Belgian abbey aroma. Soft creamy mouthfeel. 8% alcohol, its there. One of Holland’s best.
