Commercial Description:
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Could be something wrong with my brain as the t’IJ beers do have appear to have a definate likeness - not a bad thing of course given how impressive the house style is. Spice and hops on the nose - nice. More of the same on the palate. Taste profile is very well supported with a thick layer of strong malts and alcohol. To my mind might need a touch more weight to be truly deserving of abbey tripel status. Nothwithstanding a distinguished beer.

11.2 oz bottle. Poured a cloudy orange with a nice frothy white head, lots of faint lacing all the way to the end. Aroma is good, but a little weak in my opinion. Smells of yeast, fruit (apple, tangerine), kind of musty. Flavor is pretty good, exactly what I’d expect from a triple, but somehow very little alcohol despite the 8%. Palate is lively on the tongue, then becomes very creamy for the finish. Really a pretty good beer all around, very very drinkable.

Pours a slightly hazy deep gold into a tulip. Conglomerate head quickly recedes, but stays on the surface. Fruity apricot, green apple and bisquit aromas. Slick. Sharp fruit and caramel notes. Like a caramel apple. Lasting spicy apricot finish.

Hazy orange with a small head. Perfumed aroma: coriander and orange. Very nice flavours, being both acid and sweet with a lot of yeasty notes. I liked it a lot.

Bottle. Dark golden / orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, yeast, apple. Flavour is fruit, yeast, sour, apple, sweetness, hop. Untypical tripel, but still a nice beer..

Had this on tap at the brewpub, Amsterdam, 27th Oct 2009 Pours a warm yellow colour, quite hazy with a white clingy head. This is spicy sweet with a nice warmth from the alcohol and also with a slight numbness from the alcohol, there is also a nice sweet honeyness. I’ve had six great beers from this brewery, really lovely day here. A7 A4 F8 P4 Ov14 3.7

0.33l- Straw colored liquid under large ivory head. Sour raspberries on nose. Sour seltzarlike mouthfeel, a lot of lambic notes here. Not what I expected, but in a good way. This is different, something to remeber for a change of pace.
