Commercial Description:
A golden Tripel-style ale. A little lighter in alcohol, but not in flavor, than Westmalle, and more drinkable. It matches the best of Belgium.

Bottle. Dark golden / orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, yeast, apple. Flavour is fruit, yeast, sour, apple, sweetness, hop. Untypical tripel, but still a nice beer..

Had this on tap at the brewpub, Amsterdam, 27th Oct 2009 Pours a warm yellow colour, quite hazy with a white clingy head. This is spicy sweet with a nice warmth from the alcohol and also with a slight numbness from the alcohol, there is also a nice sweet honeyness. I’ve had six great beers from this brewery, really lovely day here. A7 A4 F8 P4 Ov14 3.7

0.33l- Straw colored liquid under large ivory head. Sour raspberries on nose. Sour seltzarlike mouthfeel, a lot of lambic notes here. Not what I expected, but in a good way. This is different, something to remeber for a change of pace.

Picked up at Beer World of Largo. The 330mL bottle has a date that looks to be March 2005. Is that the best by date? The beer poured out a slightly hazy light copper with off white head. A nice sediment cake was left behind. The aroma is sweet with grapes and apples along with hints of sweet caramel and yeast. The flavor is much like the aroma with fruitiness up front consisting of Concord grape jelly, Gala apples and plums followed by caramel candy. This is a nice mix of flavors. The finish includes hints of yeast and some light fruit tartness.

33cl bottle. Very dusty and dry on the nose with the basement notes developing into some richer, sweeter banana estery aromas. Slightly grassy and musty as well with a touch of cheddar cheese. Subtle and surprisingly complex. Pours a bright gold/copper with a nice sized creamy white head. Plenty of dustiness on the tongue. A mild yeast spice and earthiness. Bread dough and cheese. An interesting and reserved fruitiness comes out of the yeast pour. Very light bretty notes as well toward the bottom of the glass. Creamy on the tongue with lively, but not overpowering carbonation. 8% is deftly hidden. Far from my favorite style, but well crafted nonetheless. Thanks Alan!

A bio-tripel (!), 8%, 33cl bottle. Very cloudy, hazy beer, with a good fizz, small head and lots of yeast drifting around. Golden, light honey colour. Smells quite alcoholic with hints of mandarin, cherries... even some coffee there? Well balanced bitter-sweet flavour, yeasty, bitter palate with hints of orange peels. It kinda alternates between a tripel and a fruit beer....

Bottle: Cloudy golden, thick white head. Aroma is funky, a bit spicy poo-ish, typical to IJ yeast, some sweetness, fruity aroma’s. Taste is fruity, a little sour, really smooth. On tap @ IJ brouwerij: Looks somewhat darker, small white head. Smells a bit less poo-ish. Taste is more sour and sweeter, more out of balance. Nevertheless, a good tripel.
