Earthy and citrus hops dominate the aroma. Also, hints of pine and malt. Excellently balanced and very quaffable considering the high ABV. Crisp, fruity, piney, citrus peel, light fruit and very hoppy with a nice malt backbone. Nice alcohol warmth in the finish. blutt59 (2153), Dallas, Texas, USA

Double IPA? No, it´s a hopped up belgian blod ale.
Lot´s of belgian yeast in the aroma and just a hint of hops.
The beer dosn´t taste like the artwork suggests but in a way it is more interesting than many (mainly american) I2PAs who does! cbeers21 (578), Miami, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 25, 2008 Hazy gold with HUGE pilloy head. Piney, yeasty, light spiced and smokey. Smoked meats are incredible and evident off the nose and on the palate. Cloved, spiced smoked and fruited. In fact the taste is similar to a smoke beer. Not even close to what I was expecting for the style. That said, I liked the beer a lot, but wouldnt even consider it a double ipa. This one threw me off for sure. MaybeI just got a freaked out bottle....will rerate soon... lithy (1800), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Cloudy orange with some dancing sediment and an enormous four finger head of rocky, lumpy foam that does not go away despite a careful pour. Very citrusy aroma, some spiciness, Belgian yeast of bananas and cloves. Taste is very spicy and tripel like. Belgian spiciness and Blonde maltiness then a great citrus hoppiness. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 16, 2008 Bottle courtesy of SoLan. Pours a cloudy yellow with a huge 4 finger persistent marshmallow head. Really nice lacing and that head is still an iceberg in my empty glass. Nose is Belgian yeast, a touch of smoky malts and citrus. Taste is yeast, sweet malt, some mellow spice and ripe citrus with a bitter grapefruit finish. Medium, creamy mouth feel. Good stuff – thanks Alan!
