The caramel color is inviting, but the taste, not at all my favorite. I think the beer is way too carbonated. I am not pleased with the taste. It has a sharp and spicy taste. Not much head, but a decent beer that I can actually finish. I do not see how this is rated as high as it is. Now, that I think about it after seeing some other posts I can taste the fig flavor that this beer "has." jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2007 From a 11.2 Belgian stubby bottle with no freshness date, sampled at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
Poured a cloudy orangey amber with a frothy, foamy off-white head, good retention, small amount of laced sticking.
Aromas of raisins, plums, apples and berries, Belgian spices, sweet caramelized malts, and whiffs of fusel alcohol.
Good even carbonation and a crisp, dry, creamy smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel.
A decent tasting quad, raisins, plums and green grapes, clove, spicy, brown caramelized sugar, the fruity flavors meshes with a fusel alcohol towards the end, warming in the back of the palate, and a dry, softly bitter, fruity, sweet malty finish.
The light body makes this a challenging sipper, quite easy to gulp if your not careful, if you like the other ales from this brewer then you will find this worth trying.
