I think I smelled it for about 5 minutes before I took my first sip. Ripe sweet fruit and yeasty aroma. Flavor is nice and sweet malts and mild spices. It screams BELGIAN !! The alcohol is not strong in the flavor but you can feel it in the belly. This one will warm you up. GonZoBeeR (2163), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 10, 2006 Big sour fruit aroma like a lambic with some o that shugga mustar-coriander seed. It’s got all kinds of stuff suspended in it which frankly is a little firghtening. It almost looks like some kind of preserves, oh yeah and it’s sienna amber with some faint offwhite bubble islands, and a center wellspring. Aroma becomes more honeyed and belgie with breath. Indeed, this is very barleywine, lots of molasses, sweet alcoholz, lots flavor all through to the finish. Definitely a sipping beer. Rich palate, big barleywine burps. Take it easy this small bottle packs a punch. Kinz (2215), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA

Thick caramel aroma. Flavor is also of thick caramel, but some sweet cherry shows up as well, perhaps some fig too. Couldn’t pick up any spices. Rather like a barleywine really. Glad to try it, but didn’t blow me away. HenrikSoegaard (4401), Randers, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 13, 2006 Bottle. Brewed in 2002. Bottle had hand-written "1099" on it. Pours a very nice dark brown, with a fairly thick & creamy head. Aroma is very malty, with a little yeat thrown in, some spiciness. Flavor is heavy on the malty side, good bit of sweetness and some yeast. Also seems to be a slight vinegarry undertone. Very drinkable. I am very surprised to see it is 12%abv - I could not taste it at all. 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2006 Pours out a brown color with a large head. Aroma is spiced and yeasty. Flavor is very much the same. Only thing is that the flavor goes away very quickly. For the money, this brew is not worth it.
