| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 14, 2005 Brewed in 2002. Substantially hazy orange-red body, big puffy cream head (in contrast to what many raters appear to be getting). Aroma of sour, musty fruit, wet socks, honey-drizzled biscuits, herbs, toffee, and old fabric. Sweet, caramely body, nicely yeasty, with candied fruits (including cherry and plum), honey, and toast. After awhile apple flavors really show up. To be honest the flavor profile reminds me of a Rochefort, but on the fruitier side. Looks like there are good and bad bottles out there. My sample is quite tasty. JohnC (2281), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jan 4, 2005 Poured brown, cloudy and flat. The palate was thin, the flavor minimal. This wasn’t too good. Jukkabro (3027), Tampere, Finland
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2005 Brown, very cloudy colored. No head. Fruity banana and alcoholic aroma, some yeast and caramel come up too. Full bodied, no carbonation. Flavor is soft with banana and citrus, ends with mild yeast and some alcohol. Alcohol is stronger in aroma. Aftertaste is very lasting with mild alcohol and yeast. Very strong brew, nice brew indeed. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 2, 2005 First brewing. NYE beer. Started at 54 deg F and that was too cold for this one!! Heavy and intensely yeasty plus other spices, like maybe cardomom. A bit of maple hanging about or perhaps it’s suggestion. Bready for sure. Thick, but with appropriate carbonation. I like de Regenboog beers - alot. TBone (6804), Pori, Finland
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Bottled 11.2 oz., 2002 vintage
Hazy dark copper brown-red, no head. Like sayravai said, a bit like sahti. Aroma has roasted malts and vegetables. Wineous, and barley-wine like dark roast and rye bread. Flat mouthfeel - not much carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden but not very enjoyable - almost thin and watery palate. jazz88 (2237), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 25, 2004 Bottle. Hazy amber color with little to no head. Caramel, malt and cherry flavors and aroma. Light in noticeable alcohol (good for 12% abv). It seemed a little flat and uninspired. hopscotch (5504), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 20, 2004 Murky, barely translucent, burnt orange ale. No head. Lots of toffee in the nose with additional notes of pear, dried plum and cinnamon. The flavor is sweet and malty up front, but the alcohol and hops do a good job of balancing things out to keep the brew from being cloyingly sweet. Dried plum and chocolate. Medium-bodied and watery with almost no carbonation. The high ABV is sooo well-hidden. Lengthy, malty finish that dries out at the end. Overrated, this one!
