Commercial Description:
A dark and heavy ale - the strongest that the brewery has ever produced - in which three varieties of malt and two spices are utilised. It is brewed "in honour of" the Burgundian Babble Belt, a well known web-site on the Internet, where beer lovers can exchange all sorts of information.

Pours out a nice rusty, maple, cloudy glass. The head is delicate and thin, white and slowly fades. Nothing of real interest there. On the nose there is a very pleasantly sharp, pungent and boozy waft of caramel apples and fermentation of all sorts of things. When you drink it in you get a very soft and pleasant, blended wash of flavor. Buttery, and nutty, with whole wheat, hints of rye, ribbons of caramel and not a hint of alcohol. (and at 12% that’s a feat). It is a finely blended beer. The finish is pleasantly dry and has echoes of citrus. Love it, love it. Complex but approachable is the verdict.

Thanks to Santa for this one. I love to see any beer named after BBB63, and this one is another example of that class, which has never let me down. This one pours that ruddy muddy brown that I consider a house character of T’Smisje. The aroma is scotchy malt, some spices, dark figgy fruit, cognac, and cabernet. The palate is complex, with flavors of scotchy malt, sprity earthy peat, spicy earthy toffee, and some spices at culmination. This one is outstanding. Oh, and the alcohol is extremely well hidden, making is easily quaffable.

Pours a murky brown with a small off- white head. Fruity aroma with some hints of caramel. Yeast, Chocolate and some sweet fruits play a part in the flavor. Overall a good beer.

Murky brown with a wisp of an off-white head. Sweet toffee nose with touches of dried fruit and spice. The high ABV is nicely masked by the sweetness and spiciness in the flavor. Nothing I’d return to but not bad for a Belgian.

Poured into a Duvel glass, a rich, burgundy hue, dark, hazy crimson, under a solid layer of white foam... Ah! Lovely aroma here, instantly reminds one of cognac, port wine, dark fruits, spice, wood, a whiff of leather...love it! Have to stop smelling and actually taste the guy...large flavor, filling the mouth, bright, yet deep, and boozy, like a particularly wicked spiked punch. Ripe cherries and pungent grapes...sticks on the palate, and stays a spell..Rich, tasty, and relatively easy to down. Very much like a barleywine or an old ale. Delcious! Long fruity finish, big mouthfeel, full bodied, ...alcohol doesn’t stand out, although it should, if it really is 12 %...or is it I who have become inured to big boozy badness? A bit expensive, but worth trying, for sure. And certainly a sweet one, getting warmer as we go along...almost done now, and it’s creeping up on me!

Hazy brown with tiny head. Sweet malty aroma with spicy and fruity notes. Flavor is sweet with roasted malt, ripe fruits and yeast. Good balance with alcohol well hidden. Warming alcohol in the end.

bottle. As a frequent lurker in the BBB I just had to pick up this beer. Pours dark brown with a nice, thick small head. Medium lacing. Major spices on the nose, with a malt background almost hidden. Taste is spiciness and very sweet, with the alcohol coming in on the nose. Nice malt finish with a bit more carbonation than I would like. Not a chugger for sure and too sweet and strong to have more than one. Good Belgium style beer but not real subtle.

Appearance is great with a head that’s thin, but still foamy. Also my Chimay glass does let the carbonation bubble up through the top and feed the head more and more.Very nice lacing, but it doesn’t stick so well. The smell is of sweet dark fruit like plum and raisan, with almost a wine smell without the strong alcohol scent. Also has aftertone traces of nutmeg. The taste is suddle and complex at first, then the strong flavors of nutmeg, creamy plum and raisan with a little pepper flavor as well. The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth. Drinkability is O.K., but to answer the question of would I have another? Probably not for a little while, but I respect this beer for what it is.
