Nov 3, 2009 Pours a hazy copper color with a smallish tan head. Nice lace left behind.
Aroma is malty bready sweet, dark fruit,
caramel and a touch of brandy. Flavor is dark fruit, malty, bready, apple brandy and the finish is quite spicy. I’m really enjoying this beer, very nice!

Oct 30, 2009 Pours clear copper with thin tan head. The aroma is… cripes! Yum! I get sweet aged ripe plums, cherries, fresh sherry, solid caramel and thick pummeling yum. The taste is smooth and almost sessionable giving up no sense of the ABV. Is this a 5.5% Old Ale? The taste tries to be rich and thick with English barleywine dark fruitiness but seems it comes up a bit short. Sure it delivers some sugar stewed raisins, plums and prunes to go along with a touch of sherry but never reaches the potential that the aroma seemed to be setting up. Still, yummy brew. Well done.

Oct 19, 2009 Raspberry jam, fruity aroma. Dense hazy amber. More fruit, dense thick mouthfeel, even a bit sticky. Really like the cask maturation. Barley Wine? Ok cool.

Oct 10, 2009 Pour is cherry red with a initially large but diminishing head. Aroma of dark fruit, molasses, and bread/dough. Flavor is a bit rough around the edges, has a belgian twist to it, which is not surprising. Tart candied apple, caramel toffee, and quite the bite on the finish, somewhat due to the high carbonation. Interesting brew and not so bad.

Pours dark murky brown, no head.
Aroma and flavor, caramel, grains, lost of roasted malts, heavy on the caramel side, followed by notes of chocolate.
ABV is lighter than what the 12% would have it look like, finished with some apple puree mouthfeel.

Oct 8, 2009 Wow, first thought: a Belgian brewer doing an English style- but the flavor shut me up. Pours murky brown with a slightly off-white head. Nose is booze, apple, honey, wood, spice, sugary sweetness, fruit and goodness. Flavor is the same with enjoyable fruit pieces.

Sep 23, 2009 Pours red/brown, murky. Nose is raisin, plum, dark fruits, sweet malt, booze. Flavor is warming alcohol, ripe fruits, pungent candy sugar, sweet malts, mild spices with hints of wood. Finishes dry.
