Pretty clear, reddish-brown amber body. The large, spongy, off-white head is retained fairly well. Minimal, sudsy lacing noted. The aroma is very strange. Fermented honey, wilted flowers, and overly ripe strawberries were all present. The caramel malt base is barely detectable over what is an alcoholic and almost vinegary bouquet of fruity esters. The caramel malts emerge in the flavor, this time accompanied by some sour yeast, honey, dates, flowers and mild spices. The flavor is considerably better than the aroma foreshadows. Medium bodied and smooth, with a short, sour finish. Weird brew. Probably not something I’ll go for again.

Bottle. Pours a muddy brown colour with a very lively rather short lasting light brown head. Aroma of yeast, caramel, toasted malt and some spices. The flavour is soft and sweet with toasted malt, some spices, yeast, alcohol and bitter hops. Dry bitter toasty and spiced finish. Nice warming beer.

Rated blind from "Better Know a Style: Abbey Dubbel" tasting. Pours brown red with an off white head. Aromas of brown sugar, toffee, and fruit. Red fruit is the dominate flavor with alcohol, toffee, brown sugar, underneath. Drying alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Decent.

It took me forever to figure out what the label says before I could do a search on it. I drank it, but had no idea what it was called. Actually I still had no idea what was drinking as I was drinking it. Expect a sweet lightly carbonated beverage that leaves a mystery in your mouth. The honey and dates are quite bold making this abbey dubbel its own unique experience.

Pours a cloudy amber-brown with a fizzy head that dissapates quickly. The aroma has lots of spicy hops, with hints of dates and honey. The typical Belgian dubbel yeast and malts are in there up front, but the spiciness is unique to this beer. The flavor has more of the spices, with a good amount of honey and malt. It’s a bit thinner than some other dubbels, which makes it a bit of more refreshing drink. I like it... a nice twist in a well-trod path.

Cloudy / Murky brown/amber poor with a thin head. Aromas of arrowroot cookies, cream cheese, brown sugar, nutmeg, vanilla and cookie dough... Somewhat creamy aromas... Start is mildly bitter and gets very progressive. A little less sweet than the aromas leads you to beleive. Great balance and mouthfeel. Nice alcohol finish.

A slight, pleasant sourness in the nose took me by surprise, as I was expecting either sweetness or spice. I cannot believe the 9% rating, as this dubbel is exceptionally smooth and feels light in the stomach. Could drink more than one at a time easily. It’s not as full-bodied as other dubbels but that’s not always a bad thing.
