These guys make vuuveand another one that I hated, so let’s see some redemption. Pours a cloudy orange red with plenty of dark chunks and a small quickly fading light yellowish white head. I smell dirt and a nasty sour moldy fruit and burnt plastic. Flavor was the same, though there was a bit of raisins, leather, and alcohol. Man, i wonder if the sour dirt thing could possibly be from bad bottles, because no one can possibly enjoy these same ones that I’m drinking. Thin bodied, moderate carbonation. Blah, I shall try no more from Brouwerij De Regenboog. HogTownHarry (4025), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 3, 2006 Bottle (330ml). Clear deep ruby with an average foamy beige head. Aroma of bready caramel malt, alcohol, chocolate, raisins and very mild spice. The taste is ... weird. Mostly just raw alcohol, hints of yeast, grain and sour chocolate milk - - improves a little on warming, the chocolate malt and spice emerge some. Extremely watery body, virtually no carbonation, the main characteric other than booze is weakness. Smells nice, not all that good. maeib (4768), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2006 Bottled - Peterborough BF. A chestnut coloured beer with a whitish thin head. The aroma is fruity with raisins and berrie. Some vinuous notes and some candy sugar. The taste is very true to style. More brown fruits and candy sugar. Lots of alcohol. A long finish. Tasty and strong. JPDIPSO (4932), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2006 Muddy tan color with a fulsome of fish fish floating about. Small head that diminishes to a small lid light mocha bubbles. Very typical, but quite welcome aroma, with raisins, dates and plums surrounded by a mild hops field. Light vanilla and mild herbal hops develop over the fruity malt. This is a dubbel that does not tire my nose, as so many do. The tastes return me to a state of most dubbels, with caramel, dark candi, ripe peaches and a touch of herbal hops. There are some touches of iron and earth that make this one seem less refined and "dirty". Finish and linger are quite warm. BBB63 (4271), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 5, 2006 Bottle and served in my La Chouffe glass: Pours a hazed deep amber hue topped by a beige frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of candi sugar, fig, plum, apricot, papery yeast ester and herbal vapors. The taste is rather straight-forward caramelized and fruity sweetness with a quick dash of bitter hops on the very end. Yeasty and bready throughout. The mouth feel is shockingly thin for the brew but does add to a drinkability. Alcohol is mostly hidden. An okay brew, worth a try. biggcb (464), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 1, 2006 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy golden/amber color. No head to speak of. Aroma is sweet and yeasty. Flavor is a mix of honey sweetness, dark fruits, malt and a good bit of yeast. Mothfeel was pretty good. Beers felt a little thin, which was a surprise given the 9%abv. Rather tasty. Definitely worthy of a try. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 29, 2006 Poured a very hazy amber color with a thin off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of yeast and fruit. Fruity flavor with yeasty notes. Semi-dry from start to finish. Medium body. Kinz (2215), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 15, 2006 Medium to dark amber, small head. Aroma was quite pleasant, molasses and dark fruits, hint of honey. Flavor was complex, molasses, caramel, dried apricot, and fig. Perhaps even dates, but that might be the power of suggestion from the label. Yeasty finish as it warmed. Quite good in fact.
