Sweet toast-malty aroma with strong spicy elements of mainly coriander and a restrained fruity note. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Toast-malty, quite spicy taste, rounded up with caramel and faint raisin-fruity notes. Strong malty and spicy finish with present alcohol. Likeable but not perfectly harmonic brew [11.I.09]. tripelthreat (81), Soquel, California, USA

Sweet malt aroma with a little spice and orange. Flavor is honey sweetness, spice and finishes with a drying herbal bitterness. Somewhat thin and watery and initially aggressive carbonation that settles down. Never would guess this is 9%. An odd duck for a dubbel. DalzAle (500), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Bottle purchased from Johns Grocery in Iowa City. Pour was a dark amber color with minimal carbonation. Aroma was very sweet, malty and sugary. Flavor was heavy in malty sweetness, although not too overbearing. Aftertaste was a little plum and then melted away. Very good! thebeertourist (2819), Oslo, Norway

Spices, yeast and some fruit nose. Caramel and fruit flavours, ending on a surprisingly dry note. A bit hard on the tongue. Very drinkable and hides its strength well. carruthm (1146), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Bottled sample via lubiere. Redish brown in colour with somewhat fizzy carbonation. Aromas of whole wheat bread, molasses, dates, raisins, with a hint of citrus and booze. Lighter bodied and dryer than expected, with notes of bready malts, chalk, a bit more raisin, and some woody and herbal hops. Fairly drinkable for the abv. While I prefer my dubbels dry, this one is just a bit too dry... even for me. badlizard (2356), Berkeley, California, USA
