(Bottled) Medium brown, opaque color (like coffee with some milk in it) with a smallish, lacy head. Very alcoholic (at first), somewhat sour, salty aroma. Very coffeeish-malty, quite sweetish-caramely, salty and slightly sour flavor with milk chocolate. Long, sticky-sugary finish. Medium to full-bodied, slightly thin palate with foamy carbonation. A very original brew that is actually quite tasty in its own weird way. The color is quite repulsive for a beer (like in BBBourgondier)!

Sep 23, 2008 lots of sludgy goodness on the bottom of the bottle and I’m damned if i’m not gonna get it all in my glass. that leads to a murky, hazy, muddy brown, sparse head, and a varied aroma of figs, oak, brown sugar and nutmeg. Dark malt dominates, more spice and sugar. It’s a little chewy and with all of the heavy character I’d like a bit more weight to the body.

Sep 13, 2008 Bottle, 2008 Pre-GBBF Chris_o Shindig. Honey colored pour, translucent white head. Aroma is firmly in the compost heap: veg in decay, but an interesting sort of decay. Some soft melons, a bit of caramel sans sweet. Messy but interesting.

Sep 12, 2008 Bottle at chris_o’s i’ll go out back and glass myself tasting. Alround rating: This must be the same beer as all thier other beers just like a little more brown malt, its like the house yeast just dominates everything.

Sep 11, 2008 Bottle sampled at Toronado San Diego with Katie. We wanted to try something random, so we plucked this one off the bottle list. Clear mahogany color with low carbonation and some beige lace. Aroma of sweet smoke, dates, and toffee. Flavor is very sweet with a bit of raisin bread and sweet dark malts. Honey flavors kick in at the end. A bit too sweet for my tastes, but a good one to try.

Sep 4, 2008 Bit of fruit, honey. Not like any other Dubbel I can think of. All the aroma is there, but this odd malty taste lingers. Can’t pin it down.Maybe a bit tart.
