Bottle. Black with a very large beige foam. Aromas are spicy and warming with nutty notes. Roast malts with yeast and some woodiness. Flavours are rich roast coffee with raisins and dark chocolate bitterness. Peppery hops with liquorice, sherbet dip and berries. Warming alcohol. Dry on the finish. Good.

Dark brown color, gushing, too much carbonation, the head is huge initially but without persistance. Maybe also because of the carbonation, the aroma is only light. It has medium body, with excellent chocolate and caramel flavor, rhubarb candies and candi sugar, just some light residual sugars but not sweet. The alcohol is very warming. Very good.

Bottle. Dark blackish brown beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is deeply vinous and spiced, and the flavour is very bitter, roasted, malty and spiced to a degree. Overall a good Belgian ale.

Cloudy dark orange with a huge off-white head. Lots of yeast in the aroma, but cleaner than many Smisje beers - it’s fruity and spicy, with vineous alcohol, a little caramel and some grassy hops. The flavour is sweet and spicy with a lot of pine and grass hop flavour and a firm bitterness - one of the most bitter Belgian beers I have had. The alcohol is warming, and there is a note of chocolate. In the end, the yeast gets a little muddy though - a cleaner bottle fermentation would have made this a world class beer.

Bottle thanks to the bosses had in the rake. Alround rating: Roasty coffee malts, candy sugar sweetness, loads of yeasty unclean esters. Totally not my style.

Bottle at ’t Brugs Beertje. Pours a deep reddish brown with a large beige head. Aromas of roasted malt and spicey hop. Full bodied with frothy carbonation. Flavor of roasted malt with a lot of hop bitter. Really good beer.

(33cl bottle) Pours a brown body with a thick rocky beige head. Aroma of raisins, dates, CO2, and mustiness. Flavor of alcohol, dark fruit, light Dr. Pepper, candi sugar, and burnt grain. I would probably appreciate more with a little age on this one.
