hazy light red coloured beer with some average carbonation and a very small head. Rather strange fruity and malty aroma. Full palate. Finish is fruity (probably the ’sleedoorns’ yeasty, with a light sour touch. Very special fruitbeer.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour, huge sparkling bubbly head, which vanished quickly. Aroma is very sour and tart fruits along with some spices, nuts and berries. Flavour is very much the same with a lot of yeasty notes added in also. Quite bready notes too as it warms up.

Draft at Max’s 72 Hour Belgian Beer Fest. Cloudy amber. Strong flowery and yeasty notes with some tart fruits. Taste is a very odd fruit flavor with more grains yeast and flowers. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. More fruit flavors, grains, malt and yeast. Very odd, indeed.

On tap from Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore during Belgian fest. Transparent, slightly hazy amber with a slight green haze and a slim, fast fading white head. Smells fruity, floral with a slight hint of berries. Flavor starts with a nice simple, sweet berry which is immediately overpowered by a sharp, wheat and banana flavor (not good). Malt is WAY over the top. Slightly funky on the end. Could have been better if they focused more on the berry and less on the malt.

33 cl bottle @ biertempel, Brussels: BB 08. Finally within my reach! Cloudy pink with no head or lacings. Aroma is heavy: Dusty, sweaty, sweet, sour, fruity, vinous, thin, sticky, tart, weird. Would prefer a good kriek over this anyday!

Big thanks go out to JoeMcPhee for sharing this 33cL bottle. It pours a very murky, muddy dark orange with pinkish hues. It is totally muddy with no clarity at all with a small head. Aroma is nicely tart-y fruits and a light yeasty wildness, Comes off slightly spiky and summery. Taste is only lightly tart with some sweet summer berries. A nicely felt mouthfeel with some spikes on the cheeks. Leaves a lightly tart berry aftertaste with a bit of nice dryness. I do not know what sloeberries are but I like them. I am surprised how low most others rate this.
