A very very strange aroma, It smelled fine in the glas but when I smelled the empty bottle I was under the impression that a pumpkin whent into that bottle and died!! very strange.. taste was very complex, hints of spices, corn, pineapple, apples and a tiny hint of pumpkin (was a bit surprised by the lack of pumpkin taste). Sweet and hoppy.. mmmm. amazing brew and I cant wait to find out how amazing the other T´Smisje beers are.. miketd (685), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 23, 2008 These ratings are wack. This beer is great. Pours an orange/copper with a small white head. Aroma is caramel, spice, lemon, dark fruit and yeast. Lively carbonation leads to a nice bitter sweet flavor. Quite dry and zesty mouthfeel. I dont do this beer justice, it is really good. smcd (366), USA

Nothing like the pumpkin pie knockoffs claiming to be "pumpkin" beer, this is the real thing. It tastes like and smells like pumpkim ... beer. Medium bodied, some sugary notes. Well worth trying. AWESOME labeling makes the appearance score go up alone. Keep up the good work, Johan! LordCorkscrew (984), Ronco Scrivia (GE), Italy

The smell is foul.
But when it warms up it gets better and better. I love this beer and I will get some more from the belgian hop. jeffc666 (1896), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2005 33cl bottle best by 2007 Sure its not Halloween but any night is a good night for a beer fro Belgian with a ghost on the label. Murky glowing golden-orange body. Hey there is a candle in my pumpkin. The head is a thing of to die for. Pillowy off-white meringue with killer glass lace. The aroma is loaded with vegetable and sweetness. The aroma actually kind of reminds me of the HOTD Greg. Given the aroma it is hard to believe that this packs 10.5% abv. The flavor is very interesting. Quite hoppy tasting, loads of malt, bread and pumpkin. More and more I am brought back to HOTD Greg. The alcohol shows up a bit in the flavor but marries well with rest. The mouthfeel is lovely, soft full and rounded. No alarming blasts of tongue tingling here. I am not entirely sure what I was expecting, but this exceeded whatever expectations I had. Again, thanks to a fellow ratebeerian in Ohio for the bottle. So I guess not all pumpkin beers are mediocre after all! TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 11, 2003 25 cl; best before 2006: Fluffy, cotton white foam with excellent stickiness. Lightly hazy amber shade. Assertive mushy, vegetal aroma. Underlying perfume, pine, acorn shell, corn stalk, coconut, pumpkin bread, yam, and a hint of stinky pale malt. Elegantly creamy, spongy palate from the bottle conditioning. Metallic tinge up front following by flavors of creamed malt, vanilla, soggy bread, and apricot. Finishes with a rounded hazelnut edge, lingering pale malt, and a vague earthiness from the oh so coarse, zesty hop textures. The pumpkin seems to complement the lightly spicy, bready flavors perfectly without overly exuding its characteristics. Its only downfall is the bottle size of 25 cl, which leaves me craving more. Hazed orange or pumpkin tinted body with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity with a hint of pumpkin pie, brown sugar and spices. Mild spice flavor with fruit, a nice hop character, light floral notes and light yeast. Body is strongly carbonated with a mild spice tingle. Finish is slight alcohol warming and spice with brown sugar and sweetened malts. Damn good!
