Lubiere (3146), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Feb 10, 2008 Bottle of t Smisje Halloween. A bright hazy golden ale with a thick creamy white head, and some hefty yeast chunks.
A rather small faint aroma for such a strong beer, rather vegetal in character, light anise, and alcohol. In mouth, interesting but harsh, with light candy sugar, coriander, yeast, but there si some sort of raspyness which I fing unsettling. The alcohol doesn’t come out too much, nothing the strength of this beer. BB 2011. Bieropholie import.
Skinnyviking (2394), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. High and lasting creamy off-white head. Hazy orange milky, thick looking body. Fruity sweet aroma of pears, plums and raisin. Flavor as indicated by the aroma plus a nice shot of hops and a hint of the alcohol. Very well balanced though. Would never have guessed the high alcohol percentage. martinboer (1297), Amsterdam, Netherlands Jul 4, 2008 Bottle from Bier Koning. Amber body. Creamy and dry texture. Fuzzy and lacy. Bitter and sweet taste of citrus and caramel. High alcohol content noticeable. Enjoyable. thebeertourist (1696), Oslo, Norway Jul 1, 2008 Bottle branded as Halloween. Appropriate amber colour with a stable, medium head. Wonderful raisins aroma with some nuttiness. Fruit, notably raisins, heading towards a dry finish. Though delivering less than promised by its nose, it is still a great beer. The bottle may be a few years old so this is a beer that also stores well. Imaena (175), Portland, Maine, USA Jun 25, 2008 Bottle @ Mondial 08’. Unusual bitter flavor not originating form hops. Clean fruity nose and finish. One of the better beers of this style I’ve ever tried.
