The mustard spice is well integrated with a light phenolic note and a touch of yeasty apple fruitiness. Lightly hazed orange color with a thin tight layer of foam. What a strange flavor - a touch of the mustard seed and phenols quickly gives way to a clean tart acidity that is pretty nice, which in turn segues into an herbal, almost medicinal finish. Hard to get a handle on this beer. Whoa - I just unceremoniously poured the dregs into the glass, and discovered just how much yeast was in this sucker. It is now a heavily clouded orangey-brown color. A gray yeastiness takes charge in the nose. Mouthfeel becomes a tad creamier with the yeast, with a touch of astringency and orange peel in the finish. In the end, I kind of enjoyed this beer, and feel that the mustard seed ingredient was put to good use here, but at the same time I don’t think I’d drink alot of this. madsberg (5062), Søborg, Denmark

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 1/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 24, 2007 On tap at Mahars. Poured ugly as hell, no head, opaque brown and yellow. Aroma was tangy and tart. Flavor was apple skin, and a bit of sweet mustard, and a good balance of the two. Surprisingly refreshing. probstk (1064), Nepean, Ontario, Canada

App.: Very cloudy orange-brown with a frothy, light tan-yellowish head.
Aroma: Spicey honey, coriander, sweet, maybe mustard flour (or just the power of suggestion…), some dried fruits (figs, prunes).
Palate: Med. body, a little syrupy, soft yet effervescent carbonation.
Flav.: green, bizarre spiciness, some malt, definite mustard here, but not pleasant. A bit sweet and tangy with a fairly intense bitter finish.
Not for me. Maybe it would be better with a sausage??.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Bottle: Poured an hazy dark golden color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention. Aroma of spices and dry Belgian yeast is intriguing. Taste is quite spicy with some nice malt and dry yeasty finish which is a bit too strong for my liking. After having tried a few different beers from this brewery, I feel like they should IMHO rethink their use of their yeast strain which provide strong dry aftertaste and result in similar taste to all their beers. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 12, 2007 Pours dark orangish amber color, with a short lived head. The aroma is candy and spicy fruit. The flavor comes off as sugar and spice, plum, a hint of dark mustard and a sweet and sour candy finish. An interesting take on Belgian ale.
