Served in a duvel tulip a couple minutes out of the small beer fridge. Aroma is candi sugar, bosc pear, floral and earthy, the mustard aroma is very faint and comes across sweet & herbal. There is also a touch of dark caramel. Dark orange/golden color with a smallish off-white head. Hazy. The initial taste is sweet, fruity (apples, pears), mustard (very complex and mysterious) followed by a bit of woodsy red wine vinegar (Flanders red-ish), more fruit, and a lingering mustard that comes across as a complex, sweet spice. Well attenuated. There is a definite and welcome maltiness due to the munich malt used in the grist. This is a well made beer and now I know what mustard seeds taste like in beer. kiefdog (1624), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours a dark copper color with a massive white foamy head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Aroma is sweet, spicy and floral with notes of yeast, bread and ripe fruit. Flavor is somewhat disappointing and bland. Some smoky notes are present with dark ripe sweet fruit but little else. Generally watery mouthfeel and a quick finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 8, 2008 Bottle. Murky, dirty brown pour. Aroma of candi sugar, belgian yeast and mustard spiciness. Similar flavor with some hops, a slight sourness, and a more pronounced mustard quality. This is definitely one of the more interesting beers I’ve tried. Certainly unique, though not entirely pleasant. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 16, 2008 My friend really thought this tasted like pickles. I didn’t detect the mustard that much, however it was present. Different, but the beer character comes through well enough to not simply make it pickle juice to me. Well done and unusual. bhensonb (4334), Woodland, California, USA
