Aromas and tastes of yeast, fruits, bubblebum and light caramel. Sweet smelling (but not as sweet on the tongue - somewhat of a light bitter finish). Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2005 Great frothy head with retention and lacing to boot. Color is a dirty cloudy brown- pretty good appearance for an American micro. Sweet, yeasty, and slightly fruity aroma. Creamy. Taste is spicy and wheaty, balanced sweetness and bittering. Finish is a little bitter and citrusy. My only complaint is that the body is weak and watery. I’d love to see them beef this beer up to about 8% maybe, or just release an imperial seperatly. Good stuff. bkelley68 (467), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 12, 2005 Dirty dark orange/red. No head retention. Banana/clove yeast is upfront in the aroma, with a little carmel and bubblegum. Fairly straightforward as far as flavors go, with it primarily being malty. Finishes with a yeasty tang. Simple and pleasing. went very well with home made potato soup Kinz (2207), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2005 Medium hazy amber. Good initial head died completely, leaving nary a trace. Slight malt aroma with a definite sour tinge. Nutty malt flavor, faint clover, touch of appropriate sourness. Not bad, but not spectacular. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 3, 2004 Poured into an Aventinus glass for optimum effect, and did it work! Color is a dark auburn hue, with the sides and foot cast in a roasted reddish shade, and the head is huge, thick, fluffy and colored light tannish.
Aroma: rather mild, creamy, soft, with notes of nuts and spice, and hints of fruit.
Taste: light on the tongue, but very flavorful and well-equipped with that certain weizen texture I enjoy, solid and tasty. Lightly fruity, with some citrus, but plenty of grapes, plum, etc. Very warm and playful in the mouth, with a soft, fruity, and eventually drying finish.
Smooth and appealing, this was a very fine little dunkel. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 3, 2004 Cloudy dark brown color. Large head that laced up well.
Some subtle chocolate, coffee in the aroma with lots of banana and cloves.
Not very good.
Banana and clove shine shine with yeast and other dark grains.
Have compared to home brewed Dunkel Weiss beers that I thought were better. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 31, 2004 Moderately clouded reddish appearance, decent head formation. Strong bubblegum, clove, banana aroma. Sweet malty palate, banana and pear is dominant, drying out in a slightly bitter finish. Mild toffeeish sweetness, but just like Oakes I can’t see much difference between this and their weiss. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Splendid aromas! First is a yeasty bread dough which gives way to banana and strawberry??
Smooth, sweet, full and refreshing. Nice Dunkelweizen.
