Commercial Description:
Dunkel is of course a dark German-style wheat beer. The same yeast strain that is used to ferment our Weiss and Kristall Weiss, is employed here in order to produce the characteristic fruity and spicy flavors only with a more pronounced malt character.

I can’t help but compare this with the Weisse. Well, it’s not the Weisse, I’ll say that. The russet colour is a little light, but the head is generous enough. Sweetish banana and sour apple flavours work together to make a light, refreshing rendition of the style, but totally lacking the chocolate or toast notes required for a dunkelweizen to really shine. The flowering, honeyish malts are lacking from the Weisse as well, and the whole thing is just lacking complexity. A good spring patio beer (if it’s above freezing, we’re sitting outside - a Canadian tradition).

Big creamy tan head atop a hazy red-brown. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, wheat, light lemon. Taste is medium sweet, roasty, caramel, wheat. Finish is decidedly roasty. Medium body. Nice beer, but not sure I’d want more than one at a sitting.

Poured a medium to darker copper/brown color with an averaged sized, slightly off white head. Aromas and tastes of yeast, fruits, bubblebum and light caramel. Sweet smelling (but not as sweet on the tongue - somewhat of a light bitter finish).

Pours a dark copper color with a good thick off-white head. Nice German yeast profile in the aroma. Smooth caramel maltiness throughout. Another great German clone from this brewery.

This poured a hazy caramel body with a respectable beige head. The aroma is sweet wheat and bananas. Light, spritzy mouthfeel. The flavor is wheaty with soft malts, banana, and a low trace of spices. Fairly refreshing.

Lightly cloudy brown with a tan foamy head. Sweeter caramel flavors mixed with a light banana and lightly citric bite. Refreshing and lighter in malt than many dunkles of this ilk.

Bottle. Clear dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that dimished quickly. Average roasted malt and light hop aroma. Medium body. Average balanced malt and hop flavor with an average finish.

Hazy brown pour with big off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt, some dark fruit, hopcit, spice. Tastes caramel malty, with fruit, spice, and a slight tart hopcitric finish. I like this style, and this one is good.
