On tap at Canes beachfront restaurant in Mission Beach San Diego. Dark brown, moderate white head. Nutty caramel aroma, same flavours dominate the palate with a low fruitiness in the finish. Low bitterness, medium mouthfeel.

Tap @ Porter’s Pub @ UCSD. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Nose is sweet with light astringent malts. Taste is sweet and malty with a big kick of chocolate malts. I love to have a brown ale surprise me, because 9 times out of ten they suck bad. big taste for a relatively thin beer. Not bad.

Sample at San Diego Brewing Company. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is roasted nuts and malt. Medium-bodied and smooth with flavors of roasted malt, nuts and cocoa. The finish is sweet and nutty with a bit of hops in the aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle from the owner Wesley. Pours a very deep dark brown hue. Has a nice tan head that dissapates rather quickly. Nose is quite malty with a slightly sweet toffeeness. Flavor has a light nutty, slightly roasted taste followed by a sweet malt ting. It had good carbonation, maybe a wee bit too much, but not overly done. As it warmed in the glass I tasted more of a coffee like maltiness. All and all not a bad brown ale~
