Tampa Bay Jack the Quaffer Porter

Had on tap at the brewpub. Some nice chocolate and coffee but a noticeable sour kick that bugs me. Nice aftertaste on the exhale.

POurs deep brown with notes of malt on the nose. Consistency is very stout like but with a little bit of lightness. The mouthfeel gives a nice cocoa and nut like ending and wrapped around some hop like flavors.

Pours brown. Nose is toasted malt, burnt roast, citrus hops, some pine notes, mild wood notes. Flavor is much the same as the nose. Very easy drinking porter. One of my favorites at TBBC.

Light sessionable porter. Some roasted malt, some grassy hop bitterness. Lightly carbonated. Smooth. No off flavors. Some candy notes as well.

On tap at TBBC. Dark brown pour, tan head. Roasty, malty nose and flavor sith a soft mouthfeel. Refreshing. A solid but unexceptional porter.

En fût. Verre de dégustation directement à la brasserie. Arôme: Odeur de café avce une pointe chocolatée. Apparence: La couleur est noire. Présence d’un mince col beige mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de café avec une pointe chocolatée. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement crémeuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Légère présence de café en arrière goût. (Rating #2288)

Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of chocolate and nuts. Medium-bodied; Nice & fresh tasting with a light flavour of nuts, roasted malt and some coffee & chocolate. Overall, a decent beer - nothing special nor horrible. I sampled this beer on draught at Tampa Bay Brewing Company’s Brewpub in Tampa (Ybor City), Florida on 10 November 2007.

Sample at brewpub. Pours a deep dark brown almost black with a nice head. Aroma is nutty, light roast burnt toast- nutty and chocolate with light phenols. Good flavor of dark chocolate, nuts, almond, big sweet toasted malts, light caramel, modest fruity esters and a slight phenolic thing going on as it warms. Pretty good.
