The aroma has notes of chocolate, vanilla, walnut, slight smoke, fig, and herbal esters. The taste starts with sweet mocha along with some coffee and nutty notes, slight forward but nice flavor profile. The mouth feel is medium-bodied with a creamy soft character, dry finish. A really nice porter and the best I had from TBBC, got a 2nd. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2008 On tap at TBBC. Pours an amber/brown with an average creamy light tan lacing head. Aroma of milk chocolate, coffee and roasted grains. Flavors of the same...but a bit thin. decaturstevo (2007), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2008 At TBBC. Deep dark pour wht a thin foamy off white head and lace. Light nose of toasted malt and lite coffee. Semi sweet start that hints of choclate and ends with a good bitter finish. Medium bodied slightly foamy. Another good beer that just lacks a little flavor and the carbonation is a bit off or it would be excellent. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Dark brown or black pour, whichever it is it’s completely opaque. Creamy, one finger thick mocha colored head sticks around for a while, and leaves some average lacing once it dissipates. On the nose I get a ton of coffee - grounds, beans, espresso roast - then a wave of backing chocolate and some dark fruity esters. Smells fantastic, I was shocked how good this smells. Flavor profile backs this up, once again huge on the coffee and chocolate, tons of roastiness and charred beans throughout. Medium bodied, very appropriate for the style. Bit of a slickness to it that enhances it’s already high drinkability. Finishes with more coffee beans, chocolate and then a huge kick of bitter roast. Absolutely stellar! elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA

Hints of chocolate, roasted malts, smoke, coffee bitterness, little hops, and some caramel. Finished with a spicy full bodied mouthfeel. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Taste is very roasty but not over the top, tons of chocolate, and a moderate amount of molasses. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy. FInishes with lingering chocolate/roast (black patent). This was probably my favorite beer of the day. mabel (2626), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
