Had on tap at the brewpub. Nice and sweet and a big bitterness. Perhaps a hint of diacetyl. My non-beer friends weren’t a big fan of this one - haha.

POurs a nice copper color with notes of fruit and candy caramel. The mouthfeel is not cloyingly sweet but more fruit driven. Nice long complex finish.

Pours a clear amber. Nose is sweet malt, grainy, grassy, nice pine and mild citrus hops, slight booze. Flavor is sweet, sugary, piney, citrus, grapefruit, alcohol and toffee. Pretty good Barley Wine.

Tap. Pours a clear copper with a small head. Sweet mango and tangy fruit, floral hops, and caramel notes. Nice body. Sticky mouthfeel. Smooth and alc was well hidden. Also some candy sugar notes. Decent.

On tap at TBBC. Orangy, cloudy pour, off-white head. Malt, resin, caramel, alcohol, with a bit of hops to the finish. Not worth the smaller pour in light of the full pints of Iron Rat that are available.

(Rating #2290)

Deep amber coloured body with a ruby tint and a very thin white head. Aroma of pit fruits and a decent amount of malt. Full-bodied; Strong as hell with alcohol and malt more noticeable than anything else. Aftertaste shows the pit fruit flavours, along with apricots and a bunch of malt. Overall, a good Barley Wine for a brewpub, since I usually don’t see this style at a Brewpub! Worth trying if it’s in season! I sampled this beer on draught at Tampa Bay Brewing Company’s Brewpub in Tampa (Ybor City), Florida on 10 November 2007.

Sample at brewpub. Pours a medium amber- bright and a thin filmy head. Aroma is very sweet and extremely fruity- lots of esters- plum raisin, and tons of wild fruits- even some artificial grape esters- big league chew grape is noticed along with some green and citrusy hops. Flavor is also sweet- brown sugar, modest hop use, fruity, more grape , apple, and raisin with a medium body light alcohol burn is noticed as well. Ok overall and drinkable but the ester profile is off the chart on this one.
