On tap at the brewery on 4/5/08. Pours a clear amber color with a thin, quickly dissipating head. Smells sweet and flowery. Tastes sweet, slightly bitter, slightly hoppy. Hints of raspberry on the finish.

Tap at brewery: Deep coppery hue with minimal head and oily appearance. The aroma is syrupy sweet with heavy caramel notes, pear and mango esters, grassy and herbal with noticeable diacetyl. The taste is very sweet and boozy, harsh and earthy, moderately bitter as well. The mouth feel is sticky and full-bodied, warming. Disappointing to say the least, lacks any depth of palate.

Draft. Ruby amber beer with an off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma with light hops. Sweet, sherry flavor with caramel, and light hops. Medium-plus bodied. Lingering sweet malt, light citrus, and light something that starts to turn into pink liquid antibiotic flavors that I just can’t get out of my head.

On tap at TBBC. Pours a deep amber with a creamy off white head that laced. Aroma of sweet malts, molasses, toffee, nuts, dark fruits, vanilla and caramel. Flavor was a nice mix of the same, but the beer was a little thin.

At TBBC. Deep hard amber pour with foamy sticky lace. Hops seem to dominate with dried fruit and caramel coming through. A large sweet drink hints of dried fuity and cherries. A nice BW that is not as complex as some I’ve had but better than many. Truely different.

First Barley-Wine I’ve ever tried and I loved it. Smells and looks great. The flavour is outstanding with a hint of caramel. It goes down smooth and leaves a wonderful after-taste. Highly recommend.

Sampled at the brewpub. Deep amber in color with a small off white head. Aroma is alot of caramel and toffee, with light suggestions of citrus/pine in the background. Taste: very full bodied, and somewhat sharp in taste with a moderate to high amount of piney hop bitterness. Didn’t get all of the malt complexity that I would have liked out of this- straightforward, simple and big. Was clean though, and enjoyable enough.
