Ibrew2or3 (1757), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2007 Pours clear deep gold to copper with light tan head. The light aroma is malty sweetness that has hints of fruitiness like dates and un-ripe banana. The malts also smell somewhat caramel like along with a faint spiciness. The flavor is similar with a short blast of malt sweetness up front followed quickly by date and slight banana fruitiness. Midway the malts show up again with chewy pale maltiness then a bit of caramel followed by faint spiciness. Very nice intro into the fall season. desurfer (1037), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA Sep 29, 2007 Dark copper with little head. Flavor is malty and sweet without much defining character. Not much hoppiness to speak of. I’ve never been a big fan of Marzens. Quake1028 (628), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2007 Draught. Amber brown pour with a small, off white head. Very nice retention, minimal lacing. Diacetyl dominates the nose, some sweet malts and grains. Flavor is better, sweet malts, citrus, hops. Medium bodied, lively carbonation. Oily palate. Bitter finish, medium length. matta (1106), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2005 Pours an orange / golden body with a tall white head. The aroma has nice notes of caramel and citrus. The flavor packs the same delicate subtleties… chewy caramel malts, honey-buttered toasted wheat bread, with light hints of orange and grapefruit peels… certainly an ale. I like the lightly hoppy addition there in the finish… very unique for an Octoberfest… but that’s what American brewing is all about… innovation and experimentation! crizay (1071), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Oct 1, 2005 So I’ve had a couple of these and not much to be said, malty and not much actual flavor going on, all there beers have the same aftertaste and there not impressing me, this didn’t taste bad but nothing to brag about.
