jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Dec 19, 2007 Poured a dark brown - not quite black - with dark brown and ruby highlights. Virtually no head (not atypical for cask beers though). The aroma was sugary sweet with heavy smells of roasted (almost savory) grains and chocolate. The flavor is strong and malty with a thick chocolate and espresso roasted grain flavor. The roasted flavors peak at mid-palate, right when the fruity hops began to be noticeable. The finish is full and generally sweet, with notes of alcohol. I was surprised to be told that it was only 6% abv because some of its richness and alcohol presence make it feel much bigger (I would have guessed 8+). The mouthfeel is medium-to-full in body with a respectable presence of carbonation considering it was drawn from a cask. Overall, a nice brew - an unexpected find. Surprisingly, Atlanta Brewing Company’s website mentions nothing about the 14th and Peachtree Cask-Conditioned beer series. I got all of the information about the beer from the bar-tender. This would be ABC’s second venture with Concentrics Restaurants, after the introduction of Numbers Ale (now available at local package stores in addition to being found at TAP and Pie Bar - two restaurants that are both operated by Concentrics).
