beerbill (1243), Laurel, New York, USA Nov 5, 2007 From a growler received in a trade with dirty_martini. Thanks Larry! Pours an opaque black with a thin tan head that completely disappeared after a few sips. I’m wondering if a bit of carbonation was lost during its cross-country journey. Very pleasant aroma of milk chocolate with supporting flavors of coffee and lightly roasted malt. The flavor was again milk chocolate along with some notes of coffee and lightly roasted malt. These three flavors were well proportioned. Light hops bitterness at the finish that lingered for some time after the swallow. Nice full body and very smooth despite its 8% ABV. Very enjoyable. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Oct 10, 2007 A growler from Mr and Mrs htsprint1 (thanks, Noah and Jen -- Joah!!). Poured a deep, dark brown, almost black. Foamy tan head. The initial aroma was coffee. Notes of dried fruit, milk chocolate, toffee. Medium to full bodied. Flavor was bitter roasted coffee in the good sense with hints of chocolate and alcohol that belied its 8% ABV. Nice stuff. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Sep 11, 2007 12th sample Stone Anniversary Fest XI. Pours black with a cream ring. Nose has some roasty malts. Taste was sweet and malty, strong overall taste but really didn’t agree with me, had a lot of good qualities but they didn’t marry into a full beer for me. badlizard (1430), San Diego, California, USA Sep 9, 2007 Tasted at Stone XI Party. Black with a tan head. Sweet milk chocolate aroma. Thick full body palate. Milk chocolate and coffee taste. Very good. BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Dec 12, 2006 Tap: Black, nice head and lacing. Nose of subtle roast, light char and sweet chocolate. The flavor is balanced, lots of hop bitterness and subtle roast astringency. Nice finish with a full body, nice roast and a creamy sweet mouthfeel.
